Looking for a new reading promotion? Come see how one district began an initiative called Read Across the Prairie in 2005 that has expanded beyond their wildest dreams. The program encourages students, faculty, and parents to become a community of readers and promotes reading “just for the fun of it”. Read Across the Prairie as a district-wide reading initiative began in 2005 (and continues today) that encourages students, faculty, and parents to become a community of readers. Read Across the Prairie began as a response to a concern that recreational as well as free choice reading was on the decline. Librarians came together to develop a program that would re-educate the Grand Prairie ISD community to the benefits, both educationally and personally, of recreational reading. Come join us and find out how to join our community.
