Good news for Texas public schools! Through Rider 88, the 80th Texas Legislature has funded online research and information resources for all libraries in public schools. These resources will be available to educators, students, and their immediate families at school or home. Through a partnership with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission Texas Education Agency, and Education Service Center Region 20, these resources will be provided for K-12 public school libraries for the next two school years. The online databases will support K-12 learning with reference materials for students at every grade level. These include full-text articles from newspapers and magazines; maps; photographs; educational and health reports; historical and current event information; and much more. Three Spanish language databases are included. Educators will also find professional development resources and research studies. The bulk of the resources will be available on September 1, 2007, and we anticipate the addition of an online encyclopedia by December 1, 2007. In this session, learn more about the database program and the database resources available.
